Today started out on the bike. Good trails and good directions. Leave Dessau was easy with well marked paths. Lots of groups of people on the trail.
I noticed that my left pedal was occasionally click against the left lower part of the fram. I stopped a couple of times to fix it.

I had another ferry ride as I wanted to cross the river. On the left is waiting for the ferry. On the right is the anchor for the ferry up river. The ferry swings back and forth from side to side like a pendulum on the anchor.

The bike path on the Elbe River is excellent. It would be a fun river with a group of people. It is mostly level smooth and well marked. In many places they are working on it to make it better. Lots of new pavement or pavers. Many of the places were there are construction are very marked with detours not so much on some of them.
This is some new construction using pavers through a state forest. It almost looks like an old rail bed but it is not.

An old mill as it was stated on the map, but obviously the milling works have been removed. The stream was scenic and had a rhythm to it. And of course the ever present agriculture. Notice the flat ness of the land.
About 12:00 noon the clicking got worse and my rear gears began to start slipping. Slipping bad. I had been riding off and on with a group of Italians and another group of Germans. At this time, however, I was alone. I stopped at a shady church yard and began to unload and take apart my bike to diagnose the problem. I could not find the problem but did find a train station about 5km away. I put every thing back together and rode carefully to the station.

The town had a hard to get to not very well maintained station. I noticed on the departure schedule that the regional train that stopped at this place in rural eastern Germany only ran every two hours. My luck I had just missed the last one.
More pictures of the bad state of maintenance of the facility. It was a very small community and only one other person was at the station. She was going in the other direction. I am waiting in the sun trying to stay cool. Continued:
Will this delay make you miss your plane? We hope not! How far are you from Berlin? This sounded like a good day that went bad at the end. We hope the "to be continued" turns out well, and that you don't starve. Surly you will be able to find a Gasthaus nearby. We will await your next post anxiously Herr Hummel!!!!
