Magdeburg Continued & Updated

I finally arrived in Magdeburg. It was a long and very warm trip.

I found the Cathedral and my hotel in short order. The pictures on the left and right are the Dom. It was very pretty inside but under reconstruction. I thank that a lot of the eastern area of Germany is under construction.


My hotel, It is a new chain that started in Germany and is now in many cities in Europe. It is a budget hotel called Motel One. I first noticed them a few years ago and have tried to stay in one since 2002. The facilities here are excellent.


I went to eat and take a few pictures. I had a nice Pilsner to drink. Followed by a breaded pork cutlet with mushroom gravy and roasted potatoes. The potatoes had bacon and onions in them. That were very good.



A few interesting scenes on my walk to eat. One on left of a very interesting building. I think it is a possible attempt to resemble that place that leans in Italy. On the right are more stumbling blocks. I have found then in almost every place I have been in Germany.


The hotel has air conditioning. I fell asleep about 7:30 with out posting. So this is a post after waking late at night. Tomorrow (now today) I take my bike back to Berlin and pack it. Maybe I find the problem at that time. UPATE: I found the problem this morning. My down tube coupling had become loose. It is good to know but I left the wrench that tightens it back in Berlin. I can at least tighten it by hand for short rides. It is amazing what a nights sleep will do for your thinking ability.
