I left Lüdinghausen early but shortly changed my mind about taking the canal out of Lüdinghausen and thought that I would connect to the canal at a spot further up the road. This was to avoid a headwind and take advantage of a tailwind.
This is not a selfie as you can tell. I stopped a passerby and had then take this picture for me.
The road quickly escaped the town and became a country road the unprotected bike lane lasted about 1 km. Even then it was wide and car were aware of you. Most of the bike path away from the road. All of the bike path was asphalt. All of Europe spends money on bicycle pathways. Bicycle tourism is a very big industry in Europe.
As I approached Münster I saw my first hint of fall colors. Fall colors will on display in early October in the Black Forest area. It is an area much like the Smoky Mountains.
The cathedral in Münster was impressive. I did not get much of its history but it was probably started by Bishop ? And finished 100 or more years later by Bishop ??. I have many more pictures of the cathedral.
Stolperstine
I saw my first Stolpersteine (stumbling blocks) today. These are memorials to individual Jews and others who died during the Holocaust. They are placed on the sidewalk outside building where the person lived before the Holocaust. I believe this one is for a priest who most likely had spoken out against the government regime. It gives the name, birthday and information about death. He was sent to number of prison and camps from 1941 until he died of hunger in 1942. I have seen them in a lot of German cities mostly in the North, the East, the Northeast, the Southwest, but not in the Southeast. There is a reason for that.
I took this picture for all of the romantics. It is a great arrangement in one of the parks. You do recognize that it is a heart in the center. ❤️ The whole arrangement is about 25 feet across.
I did not want another schnitzel.
I was not hungry enough for a steak, the specialty of the hotel.
So I went to Döner King and had a beef Döner with fries and a Coke.it is like a shaved roast beef sandwich on pita bread and a salad on top. I enjoyed it but could not eat all of it.
The ride tomorrow will be to Onsabrück. I do not have a room or a path as of this time. I just know I cannot ride on the autobahns. I will work out those details at breakfast tomorrow morning. The weather for tomorrow will be like today partly cloudy with some occasional rain and strong winds all day. Until then. Thank you for riding along with me.
Judy really enjoys reading your comments each morning. Keep up your fun time and geography with history lessons daily. Have a great ride today and may the wind be at your back. Adrian and Judy
