August 24, 2023 - Innsbruck, Austria

Today started very similar to yesterday. Temperatures in the 60’s and a slight tail wind. The road was asphalt with a gradual decline. But first the morning view from my window.

This view from my hotel window in Rietz looks west up the Inn valley with the sun coming up in the east. All in all not a bad view. I would be traveling east towards Innsbruck into the sun not so much a hot sun.

The bike path was great and not difficult to travel. About halfway my rear derailleur began to slip. I stopped to fix it but it had a broken travel adjustment screw. This scre impacts how far the shifter moves on each click. It kept me from going into lower gears. I will fix it after I get hone as today was my last ride day.

The view to the east as I started my ride.
This bike path has excellent signs. As usual the signs only help if you look for them and see them. This has been an easy path to  known when you missed one. The path was next to the river and when you left the river you knew you had messed up.
This section of the path had an autobahn on the right and the river on the left. One would want to stay on the path.
The ever present river my constant companion.

I arrived in Innsbruck on time to just beat the searing heat. Innsbruck is a very pretty city especially the old city were I am staying.  The old city is the home of the University of Innsbruck with a world renown department of neurology. I will only post a few pictures of Innsbruck, it is a city with a view in all directions.

My hotel for the night on one of the busy old town streets, my room is on the third floor, window on the left. It had air conditioning but I think it is controlled in Atlanta by an international deodorant company.
One the most iconic street in Innsbruck. Lots of shopping.
A war memorial with a skate board park around it.
The view north toward Germany from near the center of town.
Just another street with a view, looking northeast.

Tomorrow I return by train to Munich. I will take my bike apart and put it into its suitcase. It I have time I will go to Marienplatz to take some pictures. The city will be beginning to get ready for Oktoberfest which starts in few weeks.

Until then,
Bob
