I have made it back to my base city, Munich. It was hot when I arrived, but I still went to the Marienplatz to see the sights. But before going I did disassemble my bike and pact it in its suitcase for the return flight home. I could not take it to my room but I did get to use the outdoor breakfast dining area. It went very smoothly and only took about 90 minutes to take it apart, clean it, and pact it.
The S-Bahn station entrance at Marienplatz (one of them). It is still the same as the last time I was here with James in 2017. They are working on modernizing the entrances one at a time.Above (my blog is not allowing me to place text where I want it tonight) is the interior of the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. It is a very old and famous beer hall. It is very near the Marienplatz. Below is a picture of the exterior.
This the famous clock on the Marienplatz. The Rathaus-Glockenspiel. It is the town hall clock with animated characters. On each hour the characters on the upper level go around and have a jousting match. The characters on the lower level then dance. It is very entertaining and it draws a big crowd each hour. At the six and twelve hours it is more elaborate.
On Saturday I visited the market plaza where vendors set up stand to sell fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. It also a variety of other items such as plants and some household goods. There are a lot of food stands and beer vendors all around the market.
The market.
A group of traditional musicians.
The beer garden.
My late afternoon meal from a Thai Imbis. A fast food Thai restaurant similar to China Town in Troy.
Afterwards I walked off my meal by walking to the Octoberfest park, they were in the process of setting up and getting things ready for the very large international crowd of attendees. They will sell a lot of beer. Next to the entrance there is a memorial to the victims of the 1980 bombing of the Octoberfest by a. Neo-nazi group.I cannot get the picture to post.
Well I guess you are home now. I was very bad, but busy (my excuse) in keeping up with your great blog. I have reviewed your entire journey, and I must say fantastik|||| Looking forward to seeing you soon. Ihren Freunden, Jack
