August 22, 2023 - Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria

Today went well. I did not ride except for the bus. Last night I finally made the decision to not to try to ride from St. Anton to Landeck. After talking with people and studying the map I came to the conclusion that it was not practical for me to do alone. 1. Too much uphill, in reality I do no uphill. 2. Too much share the road. That really does not bother me as most drivers are very courteous to bicyclist. But it was at least 50 percent of the way on two lanes road with lots of curves and some long stretches of me pushing up hill on the side of guard rail. 3. It was just going to be too hot by the time I got to the most difficult of the riding. 4. No train service along the way.

I decided to ride the bus to confirm my bus decision or to find out that am getting more afraid as I get older.  The bus ride confirmed the first. The second still could be true as they are not mutually exclusive.

On to the pictures, it was scenic to say the least. Oh yes it was very scenic, not quite the views you get in Pike County, Alabama. Did I say it was scenic.

The view of the bike path from the bus. I did not think I was wrong going by bus.
More confirmation. I could see me going 5 miles an hour as traffic backed up behind me.  Not a pretty sight.
Sankt Anton am Arlberg from the train station. Lot of pretty views.
A sports center just outside the train station and bus stop in St Anton.
The river in St Anton.

A nice view again.
A selfie of my new hat to protect my bald head from sunburns.
The views from every house in every direction are fabulous,
A mountain with a very bad view. No other comment needed.

My evening meal, a tasty pizza. It was too big to finish, but I tried and failed.

Tomorrow I go bicycle about half way to Innsbruck. I hope to be finished with my ride by 2:00 pm Austrian Time. That would be 7:00 am back in Alabama and Northwest Florida. I really hope to finish early because of the heat.there is commuter train that I can catch in the last 1/3 if needed to beat the heat.

Bis Morgen.
