August 14, 2022 - Neinburg

Today has been a problem solving day. At this stage in my trip, my life, my physical health, my mental health I know my capabilities and limitations. I think I can do 60 km a day but it is exhausting especially in 90 degree weather with a head wind. Today's plan was 85 km, beyond my limit by 25 km, so I knew I needed to spend some train time.  I started from my hotel (not on the bike path) and connected with the bike path shortly.

The first sign of the day, telling me I am on the correct path. I am  this morning on the Werra river bike path as I got off the Weser to get to my hotel.

Quickly I rejoined the Weser path and was greeted by some geese who had stopped to eat in a harvested field. They were not disturbed by my presence at all.

This was an interesting piece of a bridge over the river. The most interesting thing about it ts that it carried a canal over the river. At this point the canal is two lanes an older bridge going east and a newer bridge going west. It provide traffic across the middle section of Germany from around Essen to Berlin.

A wind mill. As I go north the land is getting flat. It begins to resemble the landscape in The Netherlands. From this point on the road will be mostly level as the landscape around it. There is even a change in building designs and construction materials. They have long dealt with strong winds and build accordingly.

I lost my way in a medium sized town that was te intersection of three different. All of the signs were marked in red. I chose the wrong red signs to follow out of town. This delayed my progress to my chosen take the train point. I took the train but still got my kms in.  I rewarded by self with an ice cream when I arrived. After riding around a little I went to my hotel and ate at the Mexican restaurant near the hotel.
A non Mexican beer

Their version of a chimichanga. It was good but spicy.
My bicycle on the train for a Sunday afternoon ride.

Tomorrow I continue heading north towards my final destination of Bremen. I will arrive in Bremen on Tuesday afternoon.

Bis Morgwn.
