August 11, 2022 - Lauenförde & August 12, 2022 - Hameln

I apologize for yesterday. I selected hotel because of its location to the bike path and distance from my prior location. I failed to read the reviews of its internet services. It had the worse wifi connect I have had in many a trip. My apologies.

August 11, 2022 - Lauenförde

I left my hotel in good weather  at about 59 degrees with clear skies Not many people on the road at 8:00 am, which is why I like to leave early.

The early road was alongside a rural highway. It had a  nice bike path operated from the highway. I always feet safe on the road and streets. The German drivers are very cautious of bicyclists. I think that is because they or someone in their family rides almost every day.
Another view of the bike path alongside the highway.
Later the bike path separated from the highway and became closer to the river.

This is a person and bicycle ferry across the river Weser. I did not take it as I was told by Hussien that the left side of the river had the least hills. So far he has been correct on minimal hills on the left. I should have asked about detours.
I stopped for lunch and had beer first. It is another Radler, only 2.4% alcohol.
I ordered alight lunch as I wanted a larger meal that evening. It is a Curry wurst with French Fries. It was okay but I should not have eaten it as I was too full for the Greek meal I wanted to eat .

This is the pizza I ordered instead. It was the smallest one on the menu. I thought I would not eat much of it, but instead I ate almost but the crust as the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Where was Max when I needed him? He always ate my crusts or hid them in the sofa.

August 12, 2022 - Hameln

I left early after a not very large breakfast. I am afraid I am gaining weight eating so much every meal. I will cut down on my eating after I get home.

The constant great condition of the bike path. I have been unmanly that were never paved and some that were cobblestone so rough it would shake your bolts and screws loose. My first significant accident was in one with deep mud that grabbed your wheels.
A welcome sign that to me looked like a postcard but much larger.
A corn field. Over the years I have ridden through many corn fields, some so large you would think you were in Iowa. However, I have never seen corn on the menu. Occasionally you may get some corn in a salad.

Another detour. This one was not well marked and was caused by construction to the bike path around the tow's train station. It was a small town so it was not hard to get through as the and all of its streets only went north-south. I did ride a church where a wedding party was taking photos outside the church. It brought back many memories of weddings past. I did to take a picture as I was so close I thought it would be intrusive.

After about 35 km with about 50 km to I decided to take the train the rest of the way. it was getting hot and I did not want to be totally washed out when I arrived. It was an interesting train event. I had one connection that caused scare as one train was cancelled, but not mine.

I arrived in Hameln the home of the Pied Pipper story. It is big in all of their publicity about their city.
This is one of the sculptures that tells part of the story. If your walk around it you will children coming out of buildings to follow the Pied Pipped. It really was a very well done sculpture.

My beer for the evening. It also was very well done.

Tomorrow I go north but I am not sure how far or where I will stop tomorrow.

Bis Morgen.
