Sunday, July 12, 2015 - Neuzelle, Germany

All is well that starts well and ends well. The in-between is just the in-between. What ever that means. The started with a good breakfast. I ate less, not as full for the ride. First couple of km were down hill. Then. Bob's Down Hill Rule - there is always an up-hill. Good scenery along the way. The soviet war memorial. Sorry for the quality poor lighting.

An interesting sign.  I think it means please do not kill the trees.

Internet is very slow tonight. it took over 5 minutes to load one picture. I am in the far reaches of Germany. Next to rural Poland in rural Germany. Think southwest Alabama and southeast Mississippi.

And speaking of signs. This is the bike path signs. I am following the blue one in the center. Thais when I see it. It has alluded me from time to time. That makes the going slower. But I have learned the time that it should be there and if it is not there to backtrack. Having a map and a GPS with maps heres a lot also.

The bike trail went on forever. It was smooth level and traversed the farm land next to the Oder river. It is a part of the border between Poland and Germany which was set by the allies (read Russians) after WWII.

On the right is a very good beer brewed at Kloster in Neuzelle. It was an excellent pilsner. On the left is a bowl of potato soup from the cafe attached to the brew houseIt might be the best potato soup I have ever had.

I thought the picture to the leftwas an interesting way to build a picnic table.  The Kloster church is on the right. It was pretty but no pictures  inside were allowed.

The last picture is my evening meal. A salad, not shown, baked potatoes, roast pork cutlets and a garnish. Oh yes I had another of the same beer from the Closter brewery. All very good.

  1. Sounds like the far reaches of eastern Germany is just a boring as southwestern Alabama. Hope you have a more interesting ride tomorrow. Still no bier pictures:-( I think the sign means caution big trees along the road!

    1. I have a picture of the road and it is beautiful with large shade trees every30 feet on both sides. It is not a place you would want to go off the road texting or some other inattentive activity.
