Wow, what a day. It started with a lot of time on my hands as I could not get a train with a bicycle slot until 6:12 pm. I knew the day would be long at that time. I spent time walking around Duisburg and seeing some of the sights. Finally, at the appointed hour I went to the train station, only to find that my train would be about 45 minutes late. I thought that this does not happen in Germany. I therefore spent more time at the train station watching people get on and off their "on time " trains.
I was worried that this late condition for my train would mess up my other connections down the line. I had already arranged for the hotel to have me as a late arrival. I was also concerned about the local trains I had to catch and the availability of a taxi at an airport without any evening flights. It worked out that I was able to fly (riding my bicycle) throught the Stuttgart rail station to the connecting train and connect with a taxi willing to carry a bicycle. The taxi took me straight to my hotel and the hotel had someone waiting for me. I just love it when a plan works out. Tomorrow I clean and pack my bicycle and do a little shopping for grandchildren. It has been another interesting adventure. 810 km added to my total. Now over 2500 km in Europe.
What a day! What happened to the guy's clothes? Glad to hear that you still have that ability to roll with the punches. See you Wednesday. Fly safe.
