Duisburg - not the day I planned

The day started well with a later wake-up and breakfast. I did notice that the hotel internet was out this morning. No problem. I then went to the train station to purchase my ticket to Stuttgart. The only problem was that this week-end is the end for the vacation season in this area of Germany. There were no train places for bicycles on the trains I wanted to take. I could only get a ticket for me and my bicycle on the 6:00 pm train arriving at 11:22 pm at the airport. With no internet there was a lot of things to coordinate. My hotel reception closes at 10:00 pm. The taxis at the airport stop at some time. I looked at renting a car but it was over €200,

My Internet came back on a few minutes ago. I have been on it working out contingencies. Sometimes the problem solving is a major part of the trip.

It is now worked out, I will arrive in Stuttgart on time to catch my flight on the Hindenburg. I have attached a picture of it as it comes in.

  1. Bob,

Good news! Instead of the normal west to east prevailing winds, it is forecast that you will have 450 knot winds from ENE to WSW, which should mean that your flight will arrive in Atlanta as expected. The bullet train is impressive. Will your bike ride on top?

Wishing you a safe trip with strong tailwinds (see above) and smooth air,
    Jack & Lydia
