September 23, 2025 - Return to Frankfurt.

 

Today started at 8:00 am cool and cloudy but without rain. My plan was ride until about 1:00 and then finish on the train from Mainz to Frankfurt. All went well. 

I took the auto ferry to the other side of the river as I had not ridden that side before. The path was well protected and almost new alphas with no bumps caused by tree roots. 

This was an impressive castle that I missed a few years ago because I rode just under it and that made it hard to see. I guess I need to go back to all my river trips and ride the other side to see the sights I missed. Well that would take care of the next few years. Actually it would just be the parts of the rivers with steep valley sides. 

One more cool castle. This one is build upon a rock outcropping. I do not anything else about it. Sorry. 

I passed through Rüdesheim on the way south. I took this picture in 2012 from the other side of the river. It is an image that appears in a lot of tourist publications. As you notice the vineyards are almost everywhere. The area from here to Wiesbaden is just about all vineyards. 

Tonight’s beer picture is one of my favorites. A Schwarzbier (black beer) from Bad Köstritz in the old East Germany. It was not available until after the unification of Germany.the brand has grown and is now imported to the United States. It is easily one of my top beers ever. You just have to like the subtle dark malt flavor. 

I finished my disassembling my bicycle, cleaning it and packing it for travel on Thursday. 

Tomorrow I will spend some time seeing some of the sights in Frankfurt. If I find anything of interest I will post a few more pictures tomorrow.
