July 17, 2024 - Frankfurt

I made it. But it was an adventure with Delta. I am a little brain dead after a sleepless night on board. The plane from Montgomery was three hours late leaving due to weather delays causes by traffic build up at the Atlanta airport. During our wait our pilot took on extra fuel. That made it possible for him to get to Atlanta in only 30 minutes. That extra 20 minutes made it possible for me to make my connection. This was the second time flying to Frankfurt that I was the very last person to get on the plane.

My picture taken from the window on the taxi of my outbound flight from Atlanta. I was one happy camper as at one point I was so certain I was going to be stuck in Montgomery or Atlanta. I am thankful the pilot helped cause the decision to be made for the extra fuel. The rest of the flight was uneventful, just airplane movies and airplane food.

I arrived at the airport and was happy to be picked up and taken to my hotel.

I spent most of the day turning the picture on the left into the picture above.  It went well but it went slow. I made fewer mistakes and dropped fewer pieces by going slow. It just took more time.

My music thought for today is a song written by George Weiss and Bob Thiele. It was song by a number of artist and made most famous by Louis Armstrong in 1968. Yes, I am referencing “What a Wonderful World”. I have seen so many people from so many different countries that I amazed how well they live together and most seen to respect each others differences.

Tomorrow begins the bicycle riding for this trip. It will start with a train ride to my actual starting point.

Biz Morgen,

Bob
