August 2, 3 & 4, 2022 The Post-Covid Trip

This is my first trip since 2019. The last trip was to Northern Germany (Hamburg and both coasts north of there).

This is the famous statue of the Brothers Grimm found in the town square of Hanau, their birth place. The building behind it is the Rathaus or City Hall. The town is very proud of the brothers as they were excellent scholars who collected folk tales throughout the Fulda and Weser river region.  I ended my day today in Hanau. This is a fitting first picture as I will follow parts of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Route on this trip. The picture is also first because I did not know how to move it. The picture below is the  information about the statue.

This is an ice cream picture. I am very fond of these pictures, and I will post more. This is a lemon flavored gelato. I had the gelato in Hanau.

You need to know that if you desire to see the picture in full screen, all you need to do is click on the picture.
The pictures are in reverse order. I tried to fix them. If want to you start at the bottom and go up this blog and you have them as i took them. I will try to fix that tomorrow. This morning I rode to Mainz, about 40 Km or 24 miles. I rode early as the temperature got up to 100 today. This a picture looking North on the primary bridge between Weisbaden and Mainz I first crossed this bridge on my trip in 2012.
Another view of the Rhein river as you approach the bridges above.
My bicycle for today's ride. It is a lot lighter than it will be tomorrow. It will also be about 15 pounds lighter than my past 10 trips as I left at home my front bags. I am hoping that will allow me to ride up some of the hills that i have pushed up.
A beer picture,

My bicycle finally assembled in my hotel room after 4 hours of trying to remember how it actually goes together. I made a number of errors during assembly and had to redo things especially the wheels and fenders. I would have felt better about the mistakes if I had been drinking but I was stone cold sober. Go figure. I did have an adventure getting here as my plane from MGM to ATL was90 minutes late. I only had about 30 minutes for my connect in ATL I moved as fast as my old body would take me and made it to the gate as the last person to get on the plane. My luggage (bike and riding stuff) made it also. I was very thankful.
