Saturday, July 8, 2017 - Plattling, Germany

We had another good day of riding. The trail was partially paved today. Probably one third asphalt and the rest the aforementioned gravel. When the trail is packed small gravel, it is fine but when it is unpacked and large it is slower riding and easier to fall. The really good news is that not one of us has fallen. We left Moosburg with a put together breakfast from a grocery store as the hotel had no breakfast. The weather was cool, 60s, and the scenery was just nice forest by the river. We ate another put together lunch on the ground in a very small town after getting sandwiches and stuff from another grocery store. We were very hungry so it was very good. After about 63 km the temperatures again  reached the 90s and the heavy rains again threatened to fall. The rains came and we got to test our rain gear. We abandoned our ride and found the train station in Dingolfing for a short dry train ride with bicycles to our stop for the night. We had to purchase four tickets, two for us and two for our bikes.  Our hotel in Plattling is very nice and we had a great local evening meal. It is late and I will again not be able to get pictures in the post. Hopefully I will be able to add pictures soon.  I have found that I have a lot less time for adding pictures in a non-solo ride. I am very much enjoying the company of Jim, maybe too much.  Tomorrow we will finish this part of our ride on the Isar River and then ride some on the famous Danube River. It will be a much larger river and have more small towns as it has been major transportation artery for two thousand years.
