This has been a somewhat relaxing day with the major activity being a train ride. I got up later today at about 8:00 am. The hotel did not serve breakfast until 9:30. This is a late rising country. I think that they missed the U.S. Army commercial from the late 80s where the private proclaims to his NCO "We do more by 10:00 than most people do all day". They however stay up much later than this 72 year old. I left Scheveringen at 12:39 and made all the train connections with perfection. A very well run train system. I have seen about a million bicycles today. They are everywhere in big numbers. I am currently in a university town in northern Nederlands. I think it is very big near 30,000 students and many from the royal family as alumni. A I walked today I did hear some US English. I met three people from Muncie, Indiana. I did not ask but I wondered what they were doing here. They probably thought the same. They were not on bicycles. I am staying at the University Hotel on campus. It is very nice and has large rooms. There are not many pictures today. I only had a hot dog for dinner as I had only ridden about four miles. Tomorrow I ride with a tail wind. That will be a big deal.

It has been a week since I left Troy, Alabama. I have seen a lot and talked with many people. it has all been an adventure well worth taking. Tot Ziens
Every once in a while, one needs a restful day, especially after fighting headwinds in Holland for what seems like days. That was on good looking hotdog! The bun looked better than ours. Keinen bier? Est tut mir leid!!! Hopefully you will have a very strong tailwind with sunny skies. Vieleich ein bier am abend essen? Hope you have a great bike ride/adventure am morgen!
ReplyDeleteYes that was a freshly baked bun. The bun for the hamburger last night was also very fresh and unique. The bread and buns everywhere have been great. They make want to eat it all. The Nederlanders are big on ribs. They are on the menu everywhere. I will try them one night.
