Eberbach to Seckenheim near Mannhein - 57 km (235 total)

A deer stand by the Neckar river.

A hunting cabin in the forest, I think.

The gates at Heidleberg.

It was an interesting ride today. There was a lot of traffic on the river. I also saw a lot of bicyclist after 10:00 am. I usually start my ride at 8:00 am and there are not many people on the bike trails that early. I had no missed turns and went straight to my hotel.  I did go through Heidelberg today. The castle was still were it was when Dick Arrington and I went there in 1983 or so. The pictures are from scenes along the road including Heidleberg. Most of the way was wooded through a nature park. I did see two bears and got close enough to take a picture. The ride was shorter today as I changed my hotel late last night. I descovered that it was not in a very good neighborhood. Most of the people (Germans) that I talk with think I am English not American. They say that they never see Americans on the bike paths (Radwegs). Today's hotel is super. The last pictures are from the hotel. I think I will have the Jaegerschnitzel tonight for dinner. By the way, the bears were in the Heidleberg zoo as the Radweg were next to the bear exhibit and it was possible to see the bears from the weg.

  1. Looks like you are enjoying your ride. I know of a cabin where there are no "zoo baren"

  2. It is time to have a long week-end there with the six of us, this includes the "steak cook". See you at the beach, real soon.

  3. Herr Hummel!

I think the deer stand is called a Hoch Sitze and is used to hunt not only deer, but also wild boar. The next picture is a mountain chalet similar to James and Marty's. Lydia and I also look forward to the mountains and beach.

    War Eagle!
