Cologne to Nierst - 70 km (631 total)

Was a fairly easy ride today. I first had fix the flat front tire. I was able to do that by taking the wheel to my room. Having a sink full of water was a help. Getting out of Cologne was not hard a lot of stopping and map reading in the industrial district. I went through Düsseldorf today. It was not a hard city to get around in. They have a direct Delta flight from Atlanta to Düsseldorf. I took a ferry a numbers of time today to cross the river.

I am staying at a small rural Gästehaus in Nierst almost on the flight path into the airport. It is run by an English woman an her German husband who collects and sells antiques. I went by bicycle across the river , by ferry of course, to see some ruins from before 1000 AD. It was interest and I had a nice meal at the ferry house bier garden . I still do not know where I am going tomorrow.

  1. Bob,

No plan; no problem:-), that's the beauty of your travels. The bike paths look awesome! Really, it looks like your trip has gone pretty much as you envisioned it.

    Best wishes,
