April 27, 2011 - Bertem to DeKaag 37km , 67 total

Well it has been another interesting day. Still not able to add pictures. I will probably end up adding them after I arrive home. If you remember the movie Silver Streak, I feel like Gene Wilder. It was a frustrating day on the trains in Belgium. I missed two connections, had a third train cancelled, got tossed off a French train, and finally got on the fifth train to Amsterdam. I became familiar with the train station in Antwerpen. I also got lost in Schipol, the Amsterdam international airport. That is where I left the last train to save a few kilometers of urban riding. I passed a few tulip fields and took some pictures. As I was behind schedule it did stop and walk. Tomorrow promises to be a regular day, just me and the Dutch bicycle paths. This is an easy place to ride. Good level paths and lots of bicycle traffic. The Dutch ride every day. It has been windy and cool, but nothing like the bad weather you are having in Alabama as I type this. I will say a prayer for al in Alabama and the other states in the paths of the tornados. I will struggle with the picture thing again tomorrow. Today I covered 37 km and am in DeKaag a very pretty town on an island in an inland lake. Tomorrow I go to Brielle an old fortress town just south of Rotterdam. I will ride a ferry across the Rhien river. It would be like crossing the Mississippi below New Orleans. Till them, Pax.

Pictures added May 1, 2011.
