I will try to make this brief as I went for a long walk after the long bicycle ride. No wonder some of you think I am Crazy. The day started as I was told with a level ride that had some high hills. I was advised to take the train but I ignored that advise. I am glad.

Along the way (up and dowwn hills), I saw a Castle (Manor House) and some very pretty country side. You would think that one would get satiated by the beautiful scenery, but it has not happened yet. It is all very clean and pretty.

After all of the hills the road leveled to dikes and train track beds. Very easy riding. I had no falls today and I was never lost. A red letter day. I cover 65 km today, most of it after lunch when the road leveled. I am now 360 km down the Donau Radweg. With the 180 km from the Neckar Radweg, that is 540 km.

Outside of Neuburg a.d. Donau I passed the Gruenau Castle. It was closed but still it was interesting because it was so isolated. There were no building within 1km of it. It also had a most unusual Red Door. Go Figure.
Ingolstadt is the home of Audi Motors. They have a giant assembly plant here. I think BMW also has one here or near-by. I had a time finding a hotel but on the third try found one I liked. After check-in I went for a walk back to the city center. It was full of shops and for the first time I saw a lot of people. I had wondered were everyone was for the holidays.

I had a great meal at a Turkish Resturant. Lamb chops with rice, green beans and a salad. The beer report for the day is Nordbrau Dunkle Wiessen with a shot of snapps, and Paulander Helles. Tomorrow will be a big day. I will pass the half way point (550 km), and when I go pass Kelheim I will stop going north and start going west again.
Until then, I thank you for your comments and miss you being here with me.
Sehr geehrter Herr Hummel,
ReplyDeleteWas wunderbahr Foto du hast machen! Wir liebe die schon landschaft. Auch, ihren abendessen war sehr interressant, und ich glaube das dunkel bier war schmackhaft. Wieviel kostet das? All is very picturest and inviting making some to wish they had the guts and taken the opportunity. I did notice the lack of people (and shops) in your photos, sort of like Banks & Ellijay, how nice. Could the house or castle with the red door be full of Sig Eps?
ReplyDeleteI hope today (Friday) goes as well as your Thursday. Take care.
